Network State has initiated a project of cleaning up Wikipedia from false, incorrect, and
misleading information about Armenia, Armenians and Armenian heritage. We will be working
with professionals to collect proof and references to truthful information and replacing false
information with the truth.
The project should have 2 parallel wings helping each other:
Proactive- Placement of correct information in English with references to reliable sources,
translation of correct information from Armenian into English.
Reactive- Wikipedia Cleanup wing
Procedure for identifying and correcting false information
Step 1
Research and flag potentially false information – red flag in agreed place for review – volunteers
Step 2
Specialists in particular topic review and confirm that the information is false
Step 3
Specialists (partner organizations, professors, etc) provide correct information
Step 4
Digitize materials which are not available online and place them on Network State library page
(with cover, ISBN information and pages with the proof) – volunteers
Step 5
Audit the final material for proof and correct information – specialists
Step 6
Place the information in Wikipedia with references – volunteers after training
Step 7
Save the committed version ID and information on Network State to prove possible future
falsifications
Step 8
Find online a service that will track all our placements for version change to flag potential
falsifications and revert back to correct information.
Volunteer Opportunities
We need volunteers
who can help us search for potentially false information, flag it for professional review,
who know English, Arabic, Persian, Turkish, Azerbaijani, French, Spanish, Italian, Hindi,
or other languages.
This research will help you:
- Learn more about Armenian history, Armenians and Armenian Heritage
- Learn and get trained on how information gets placed in Wikipedia and how to do it yourself
- Get volunteer hours for the work you do to help Armenia
On November 20, we had our first training collaborating with “Wikimedia Armenia”.
If you want to join the Project, you may send your CV to [email protected] email.
